How to Write a Letter to Santa for Preschoolers

Writing a letter to Santa is one of the most exciting Christmas traditions for little ones! 🎅 Even preschoolers can join in on the fun with a little guidance from parents or teachers. Here’s how to make the experience simple, magical, and full of joy.

1. Keep It Short and Sweet

Preschoolers may not be ready for long letters, and that’s okay! Encourage them to dictate their message while you help write it down. Use simple phrases like:

  • “Hi Santa! My name is…”
  • “I have been good this year by…”
  • “For Christmas, I would like…”

Try our free Santa letter templates to make it easy for little writers to follow along.

2. Let Them Draw Instead of Write

Many preschoolers express themselves best through pictures. Give them crayons or markers and let them draw their Christmas wishes! Santa loves artwork from his youngest believers. 🎨

3. Add Stickers and Sparkles

Turn the letter into a fun craft! Add stickers, glitter, or small decorations to make the page festive. Preschoolers will love seeing their letter sparkle — and Santa will too!

4. Include Their Return Address

Don’t forget to add your return address so Santa knows where to send his reply. You can even order a personalized letter from Santa to surprise your child later!

5. Mail It to the North Pole

Once the masterpiece is complete, mail it to:

Santa Claus
123 Elf Road
North Pole, 88888

Be sure to send it before December 10th to give the elves time to read and respond! For more details, check out our post on where to send your Santa letter.

6. Celebrate Their Effort

When your preschooler finishes their letter, celebrate! Hang it on the fridge, take a photo, or read it together before mailing it. These small traditions build lasting Christmas memories. ❤️
